We work with standard market carriers, all of which are highly rated by A.M. Best and have a high commitment to business in Virginia. The MSVIA also works with a comprehensive selection of carriers that provide coverage to physicians or specialties that do not qualify for standard market coverage.

Medical Protective (Med Pro) is rated A++ (Superior) by AM Best Company and is a member of the Berkshire Hathaway family of insurance companies. Medical Protective is a large national insurance company which was formed in 1899. The company is headquartered in Fort Wayne, Indiana and has a local claims office located in Northern Virginia.

ProAssurance Indemnity Company, Inc., is rated A (Excellent) by A.M. Best Company. ProAssurance is a large national company which is physician managed. The company is headquartered in Birmingham Alabama with regional offices in Washington, D.C., Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Missouri and two local claims offices in Richmond, VA and Washington, D.C..

Professionals Advocate (Pro Ad) is rated A- (Excellent) by AM Best.  Professionals Advocate is a subsidiary of the Regional Insurance Company - Medical Mutual Liability Insurance Society of Maryland. The company, formed in 1985 is doctor owned, and doctor directed.  Medical Mutual of Maryland is headquartered in Hunt Valley, Maryland.  Professionals Advocate has a local underwriting and claims office located in Richmond, VA.

The Doctors Company (TDC) is rated A- (Excellent) by A.M. Best Company. The Doctors Company (established in 1976) is a large national company owned and managed by physicians. The company headquarters is located in Napa, California, with 8 regional offices around the nation. The Doctors Company also has a local claims office in Richmond, Virginia.

The MSVIA also has a number of non-standard markets available for physicians with special circumstances.
