The nHealth Plan returns to the basics of health insurance by focusing on coverage for those healthcare services that represent the greatest risk of financial burden on individuals and families. Compared with traditional plans, this approach results in lower premiums which are achieved, in large part, by the providers’ professional services fees being paid by the employee. The premium savings, in turn, help fund an employee-owned, tax-exempt Health Savings Account (HSA). The HSA is used to pay the professional services fees, the deductible portion of covered services, and other qualified medical expenses. Unspent balances in the employee’s HSA remain in the account year to year.
